Oakwood Auctions is holding a “HOT” auction to kick off the summer. The  2-DAY PREMIUM STAMPS & COINS auction runs on July 11th beginning at 11 a.m. EST. Absentee and Internet live bidding is available through our website.

You will find many incredible items have been packed into this diverse auction. With almost 1,000 lots from six general categories, this is truly a sale for collectors and deal hunters. From rare Canada, USA and Great Britain stamps, to collections and coins from around the world, there are many fabulous finds at extremely low prices that are expected to bring large crowds to this event.

Day 1 will contain a variety of coins and collections from around the world, including a 1958 Canada Prooflike Set in its original wrapping, and a China Qing Dynasty 100 Cash Xian Feng Coin estimated at $400-$500. Collections from Germany, Holland, Belgium, Canada and more will be offered. A unique item is Lot 33: A Collection of Art History Coin Sets. Never seen before, there are 12 commemorative provincial legal tender 25 cent coins, in each of the 7 presentation boards. Each set is housed in an art board, depicting an important event in Canadian history. All coins are brilliant uncirculated, and a great collectible which is rich in history. This lot is expected to bring $200-$250 USD.

There will  also be a magnificent, world class collection of Israel stamps offered. All the stamps have been expertly described, and beautifully presented with photographs. Highlighted by a 54 page extensive museum quality collection, titled, Israel "The Coins" Extensive Stamp Collection, this lot includes Full Tete Beche Strips, Tabs, Plate Blocks, Rouletted Plate Blocks, Colour Variations, Postage Due, Souvenir Sheets, Blocks, Tab Blocks, Tete Beche Pairs and Gutter Pairs, Overprints, Extraordinary First Day Covers and Postal History. This collection is for the collector seeking the finest quality, and is estimated at $1,500 - $1,800 USD. Also featured will be a 1948 – 1958 Mint Never Hinged Collection including #J1 - #J5, estimated at $1,000 - $1,600 USD.

Day Two is sure to attract a large crowd with a rare selection of premium stamps from Great Britain, Canada and USA. Collectors of these countries are in for a treat!

There are many Great Britain highlights to be noted.  One offered will be an 1840 #1 1 Penny Black Imperf Block of 4. This rare block has been certified by The American Philatelic Expertizing Service. With a Stanley Gibbons catalogue value of 25,000 pounds and estimated at $7,000-$8,000 USD, this will be sure to excite serious collectors. Another featured Great Britain stamp is a beautifully centred 1882 #90 a24 5 Shilling Rose with bright vibrant colour, and is estimated at $1,200-$1,600 USD.

Head turning Canadian stamps include Large and Small Queens, 1897 Jubilee issues, rare Admirals, advertising and first day covers, spectacular mint blocks, and more. Highlighted by a Mint 1859 #19 17 Cent Jacques Cartier Imperf, this lot will bring significant attention from Canadian collectors. This stamp is an absolute VF, and is expertly centred which is very difficult to obtain for this issue. The colour is strong and fresh, and is estimated at $1,200-$1,500 USD. A close second is an 1897 Jubilee #65 $5 VF MLH. This stamp is always highly sought after, and this will be no exception, as it is very well centred, and has great perforations. With a catalogue value of $2,000, this lot is estimated at $1,000-$1,100 and will be sure to excite.
