Description:

This is a visually captivating set of six original Woodland-style serigraph prints by Indigenous Canadian artist Clarence Wesacapp, each hand-signed and numbered in pencil from a limited edition of 500. Executed in the distinct style associated with the Woodland School of Art, these works are filled with symbolic imagery rooted in First Nations spirituality. The compositions depict stylized turtles and fish - sacred beings in many Indigenous traditions - interwoven with organic contour lines and centered around vibrant circular energy forms rendered in luminous shades of green, yellow, blue, and black. The imagery reflects interconnectedness, life cycles, and spiritual motion, hallmark themes of the Woodland aesthetic.
Each print measures approximately 12 inches in image diameter, printed on heavyweight archival paper sized roughly 19 x 19 inches. All six prints are in excellent condition with crisp color and clean edges, except for one print showing minor foxing in the lower left margin, which does not affect the image area. The collection includes three prints titled "Medicine Turtle" and three titled "Spiritual Sun Birds". The "Medicine Turtle" prints are numbered 158/500, 159/500, 160/500, and feature a stylized turtle with flowing spiritual lines connecting it to a central energy orb. The "Spiritual Sun Birds prints are numbered 164/500, 165/500, 166/500, each portraying two fish swimming in orbit around a yellow-green spiritual core, symbolizing balance and the cyclical nature of life.
These works are all hand-signed by Clarence Wesacapp, a Canadian Indigenous artist whose work embodies the Woodland tradition pioneered by Norval Morrisseau. While Wesacapp is less represented in mainstream auction circles, his prints are appreciated in Indigenous art communities for their meditative compositions and strong symbolic resonance. His style is characterized by smooth black outlines, luminous color blocks, and compositions that reflect deep ecological and spiritual values.
Together, this set of serigraphs offers a rare opportunity to acquire a cohesive and aesthetically unified body of work from a single editioned series. They would make a compelling statement when displayed together and are ideal for collectors of First Nations art, spiritual symbolism, or modern Canadian Indigenous expression. Each piece stands on its own with powerful visual storytelling, yet the set gains even greater impact through its thematic consistency and cultural depth.
