Description:

James Lumbers' "Titanic Departure" original acrylic on masonite painting, signed and dated '12 lower right, in excellent condition. It was around noon on April 10, 1912 and it was to become a memorable occasion in history. Henry Abbott was enjoying a sandwich and cup of tea for lunch. His companion Seymour was at the ready for any scraps that might come his way. A Skylark sitting on the birdbath voiced its delight in the warm spring sun, when a deep blast from RMS Titanic's whistle announced her departure from Southampton as she made way to the open sea. It was her "Au revoir". Henry picked up his binoculars and watched as she faded into the distance.
